Hi Peter, Hope you are well, I have been super happy with the windpilot you did send to me. It has been working great since Ireland, and I am currently in the Canary Islands. Next winterseason I might cross the Atlantic.
I was wondering, does the windvane need any specific maintenance so far? Since I’m mostly single-handed sailing, I have created quite a special relationship with the windpilot :). So I would like to take good care of it. Here is a picture of the installation;

Ein Blog, der nach dem Herzen greift, weil er unverblümt die Probleme eines Weltumsegler Paares mit einem guten Sinn für Realitäten, in Worte giesst, wobei kein Auge trocken bleibt. Der Blog schildert ohne Schönmalerei die Schattenseiten von Blauwasserseglern, die in Zeiten der Pandemie nur noch nach Hause wollen. Die beiden haben ihr Schiff von Seattle mit dem Truck quer durch USA an die Ostküste verladen, von dort den letzten Sprung über den Nordatlantik gemacht, und sind im Oktober 2021 in Lanzarote gelandet, um in der Sonne nun ihre Wunden zu lecken. Die Skipperin hat die Nase voll vom Segeln derweil ihr Skipper die seine als halbvoll bezeichnet. Der Liegeplatz jedenfalls ist bis Ende 2022 bezahlt
Sehr geehrter Herr Förthmann, ich bin mit meiner Beneteau Oceanis 40 CC allein über den Atlantik gesegelt. Ohne die Windfahnensteuerung hätte ich das nie schaffen können, sie hat immer zuverlässig funktioniert. Großes Lob!!
Vor wenigen Tagen habe ich den Bericht über Frank Albrecht SY Invidia online gestellt. Frank ist zwischenzeitlich in Mindelo eingetroffen, hat seine Windpilot Pacific an der Forna 37 ( Stahlbau ) montiert, eine neue Drive Unit des Autopiloten montiert und ist mit 2 Mitseglern gen Westen aufgebrochen … die er zwei Tage später wieder im Hafen an Land gebeten hat, weil sie mit dem Seegang unterwegs Probleme zu haben schienen. 
Hello Peter, Installation and commissioning went very well. There were no surprises and no need for further adjustments. I’ve used the unit in light conditions and just recently for a beam reach in 20-25 knot winds. As long as my sail trim is correct the Windpilot does a great job. I’m learning to reef my mainsail early to keep the helm balanced.
Dear mr Förthmann, As from the launch in 2009, my Bestevaer 55′ Albatros (approx. 26 tonnes) has been equipped with both a Pacific Windpilot and a B&G autopilot. Both the pilots are being used seperately and have served us well over the years and still do.
Bonjour Peter, Just to tell you that we arrived at La Martinique few days ago after a 14 days quiet transat from Cabo Verde. We use the Windpilot all the time with full satisfaction. It worked just incredibly fine ! We are very happy and trustful.
